Nissan Titan Clock Springs
Clock springs are essentially electrical connectors which are located inside of a vehicle's steering column. They allow the wheel to turn while still maintaining a connection to the vehicle's air bags and other components (horn, cruise control, radio control, etc) that may be located on the steering wheel itself.
When a clock spring fails on vehicles equipped with SRS (supplemental restraint system, or air bags) the SRS light will typically illuminate. In addition, the horn and other controls located on the steering wheel will most likely cease to function.
Replacing the clock spring should not be a terribly difficult repair, however due to the sensitive nature of airbag deployment systems, we highly recommend leaving this repair to a professional!
