Mazda Miata Upper Radiator Hoses
The upper radiator hose connects the engine block to the radiator inlet port. When the engine first starts (cold), the thermostat restricts coolant from entering this hose. Once operating temperature is reached, the thermostat opens and allows coolant to flow through the upper radiator hose into the radiator.
Radiator hoses will deteriorate over time and should be replaced proactively. Occasionally they may fail early due to unforseen circumstances.
Replacing the upper radiator hose is almost always an easy repair due to the ease of installation and its location.
