Door Lock Actuators
Door lock actuators are the devices inside a door panel which receive an electrical signal, from either the switch or body control module, and then move the lever which locks and unlocks the door.
Door lock actuators can wear out and break over the course of use. This is not surprising considering they will typically activate tens of thousands of times over the life of a vehicle. If you're switches, key fobs and keypads don't seem to be working, it may be an issue with the actuator.
Replacing the door lock actuator is a moderate to difficult repair depending on the vehicle, however with the right tools and instruction it should be able to be accomplished by many DIY mechanics.
