Cam Position Sensors
Camshaft Position Sensors are used to monitor the camshaft's position at any given time. This information is sent to the car's ECU and then used, in conjunction with other engine sensors, to accurately time the injection and ignition systems.
Cam Position Sensors can fail due to prolonged exposure to heat or excess vibrations. Typically check engine lights will illuminate when and if this happens.
On most vehicle replacing the cam position sensor should be relatively easy, but some may require removal of the timing chain cover which will entail a bit more work.
